The vibe-iest left of centre album I've heard in 2024 comes from a songwriter, guitarist, and drag performer named Patrick Flegel from my hometown of Calgary. Flegel performs as Cindy Lee and was the lead singer of notable Calgary band Women.

The album is 12o minutes long, it sometimes sounds like a trip back to the days of Velvet Underground, sometimes like the Beach Boys in space, sometimes a 70s psychedelic record.

The interior album art (above) hit my nostalgia centre hard. Anderson LRT Station in Calgary was my LRT stop as a teen.

The only way to listen to Diamond Jubilee at the moment is on YouTube or download from a geocities website that asks listeners to send $30 via PayPal or e-transfer if they are able to. Seriously. Maybe this is 2024's In Rainbows moment?

Whatever is happening, this is a notable musical moment. Something totally fresh and different released in an unconventional manner.

I wish I discovered this album a few days earlier as Cindy Lee played in Vancouver 2 nights ago on what the geocities website says is their last tour.
